Lexi’s life is finally falling into place. She has just received a much-deserved promotion to manage a public relations campaign for a new Miami hotel complete with a handsome hotel manager. Just when she thinks she will have the big news during happy hour, her best friend Savannah drops a baby-powder covered bomb. She’s pregnant. BOOM! Before Lexi has a chance to recover from the shell-shock, Kate, the third musketeer in their trio, admits that she too is expecting. KA-BAM!
Lexi soon realizes her whole life is undergoing a baby proof makeover when Kate moves into her condo to flee a failing marriage. As the pits of real pregnancy start to multiply —food aversions, medical tests and more, Lexi starts to wonder if she actually knows anything about real pregnancy.
Between the hotel launch and her leading role as babymaid, Lexi can hardly keep baby bottles and champagne bottles straight and starts to question if she can handle the pressure. Can Lexi survive the pregnancies, pull off the hotel launch of the year and snag her own someday-baby-daddy? She knew how to be a bridesmaid, can she learn to be a…babymaid?

The first thing that hits you when you start reading Babymaid is that you probably already deeply know the 3 main characters. After the first couple dozen pages you've most likely assigned faces from your own experiences to the names Lexi, Kate, and Vanna (and perhaps even Dr. Nick and Henry, if you are so inclined).Even if you are in the rare situation where you've gone through you late 20's or early 30's without either the experience of pregnancy or the pregnancy-by-proxy that our main protagonist faces, O'Dowd and Polk effortlessly reel you in with their unpretentious and engaging characters, showing the wonder and ever present mind-boggling confusion that comes with a close knit group's first child.
In the end, what most impressed me the most was the authors' ability to avoid the trite and hollow dialogue that is so prevalent in this genre, and truly create thoughtful characters, full of the flaws but underlying solidarity we all hope to find in our own friendships. All in all it is a wonderful freshman endeavor by the authors, and I look forward to seeing more from them in the future.

Babymaid edition by Olivia Polk Jane O'Dowd Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This was such a great read. I live in S. FL and the setting is spot on. Also, the story line is hysterical and emotional. If you're a mom or have friends with kids then you will laugh the whole way through. I cannot wait for a sequel!!
I couldn't put the book down! It's a great book that is able to suck you in and believe you are a part of it. Every woman has gone through this phase of her life, will go through it, or is smack dab in the middle of it (That's me!). It's full of great laughs and emotional life circumstances. You are rooting for that perfect happy ending because the characters are so relatable and you want the best for them. You feel like you know them personally or, if you don't, you want to be their friends! I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends!
I Love this book! I learned so much about what to say and what NOT to say to a pregnant friend and family member. It's the perfect gift for guests at any baby shower )
Wow this was a great lite read with wonderful little twists and turns. I would definitely recommend this to all of my friends!
Just like a comfy blanket at the end of the day! This story will leave you feeling happy and warm.
What a great book! I could relate to Lexi on so many levels because I’m in her position—the friend and sister to pregnant ladies. I often found that Lexi’s internal dialogue addressing questions and assumptions about pregnancy were things that I have found myself thinking in the past. She read my mind! The quick dialogue and never-ending series of events kept the plot moving throughout the nine months of pregnancy. I only wish this book had been out sooner!
This is a wonderful story of three friends, Lexi, Kate and Vanna, and the changes they go through during pregnancy. Lexi's ruminations about pregnancy, babies, and childbirth are hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud through page after page.
She is a public relations professional, but is unprepared when her two best friends become pregnant.
I enjoyed reading about the different phases from embryo to 41 weeks which start each chapter, and following Kate's journey.
Anyone who is pregnant, has become a mother, or is close to someone pregnant will thoroughly enjoy this very quick and entertaining read.
