So, drawing on his background that includes working on the federal government’s Bicentennial Celebration of 1976, he has co-authored The Essential Commemoration Management Guide. This is an 84-page workbook that takes the reader step-by-step through the entire process of commemorating an event, whether it involves a family, company or governmental unit. There are 15 handy forms to keep track of everything and create an actionable plan in the process.Harris believes the U.S. missed a big commemorative opportunity in June 2015 when the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta — considered one of the founding pillars of self-governance in English-speaking nations¬ — slipped by almost unnoticed.
